Job Description

Reporting to:     Finance Manager

Job purpose: 
The finance assistant will support the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies. This role is crucial in assisting the finance manager to achieve the organization’s objectives by ensuring efficient and transparent financial operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
1.    Implementation of Policies, Guidelines and Manuals
•    Adhere to policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation (Code of Conduct; NPR-Nepal; Finance Manual; Security Response Guide; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Guide; Mobbing, Sexual Harassment & Abuse of Authority; Code of Conduct Against Corruption etc.) and other specific policies applicable for TTDP; 
•    Conflict Sensitive Programme Management at all levels;
•    Ensure compliance of all the terms and conditions agreed between HELVETAS Swiss Inter Cooperation and Swiss Development Cooperation.

2.    Financial Management
•    Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts, and other financial documentation;
•    Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections;
•    Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports;
•    Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial transactions are timely and accurately recorded;
•    Assist in daily banking transactions.
•    Assist in the preparation of financial audits and coordinate with external and internal auditors as necessary;
•    Assist in reviewing the completeness, accuracy and truthfulness of supporting documents relevant to financial transactions;
•    Assist in financial closing of the project;
•    Maintain and organize financial files and records, both electronically and physically;
•    Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial policies and procedures;
•    Timely follow up with officials of local government for financial reports of funds channelled through the government system;
•    Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with donor requirements;
•    Provide administrative support to the finance department as needed.
•    Other tasks as and when necessary and as requested by the supervisor.

Required Education, Experience and Competencies 
Required Education/ Experiences: 
Minimum + 2 / Intermediate level in Management, Commerce with at least 3 years of  experience in similar field. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management or a relevant subject will be an advantage.

•    Ability in using office application word, excel, etc. 
•    Good verbal and written communication in Nepali and fair in English
•    Self-motivated and result oriented
•    Good interpersonal skills and a team player

•    Demonstrated ability to work with multi-cultural environment
•    Ability to work under pressure with positive attitude

Additional Information

Duration: Initially three years with a possibility of extension.

Salary and Benefits: As per rules and regulation of Helvetas Nepal.
